XXP Weekend?

Any of you CoHers doing double XP in Aion this weekend? My husband and I will be on Lumiel (Asmodean side) and could use a good team around lvl 21. Look up Incendere or Fetter.

Teaming on Aion is way less awesome than in CoH, that's for sure. But I am finding the game pleasantly diverting, at least until Going Rogue comes out :)

spam patch!

Word-of-dev says a patch went in last night to cut down on chat spam. Rei and I were on last night and experienced a drastic reduction in chat spamming, so it looks like good news! Monitor your mailbox carefully.

Player Listing

Much like the City Global List, I figured we'd want to make an easily-accessible list for folks to know where people are.

Listed by server first, then LJ names, with a "main contact" character listed afterward in case someone wants to contact you in-game. Easiest way to contact in-game is through mail. I personally get way too much RMT spam tells to pay attention to the PM system, which I filter out of most of my chat tabs BECAUSE OF the RMT spam.

Servers with no characters on them are hidden to save space, until people say they've got a character on it, then I'll unhide them and list the player(s).

I got the current listing from the rollcall post. If I am listing a wrong contact character, or not listing one at all, please respond.

When you respond to this post, please *ONLY* give me *ONE* character name per server. If you give me more, I will use the first listed and disregard the rest of them. ONE CHARACTER NAME per server. Also, I will be deleting replies to this post so that the comment page doesn't get cluttered and confusing. Please try to keep the chatter to a minimum, especially since I'll be deleting everything anyway :p

EDIT: We either need way more tags, or to be able to create tags ourselves. This needs a 'community' or 'people stuff' tag or something like that, and I can't create tags.

RE: Rollcall!

A letter from Lance, Aion's Executive Producer

Most of the letter concerns the server queue issues that (I guess) still persist on really popular servers. The key paragraph for us, however, is this:
So the next question may be "What about my character I've already spent time on?" Another good question. I'm excited to confirm that we are currently working on implementing a server transfer service beginning next month. Specifically, we will offer every player a free one-time server transfer for a limited time to select servers. You can rest assured that addressing the demand for Aion is our biggest priority. And I know a big question is "Why did you not deploy more servers?" Most of you are savvy enough to realize that a healthy MMO server needs a robust population. We have to calculate our reasonable concurrency numbers in a week and in a month and beyond. The last thing we want to do to our players is spread them out so that the "massively" in "massively multiplayer" gets lost..

We should pay attention for the timing of this, and the servers they'll open up for transfer, and see if we want to make an effort to consolidate even more than we are.

Problems with connecting

I found out that if you can't connect to a server and just hang, there is a way around it. This happened to me earlier in the week with Luciel; I would login and just sit at the blank screen.

What you do is login and tell it that you -don't- accept the eula. It then boots you out of the game. Reconnect and login and this time accept the eula. You'll be presented with the server select screen. Problem solved.

Now if only I had this earlier in the week when I had a little time. :)

So, the game's been out for over a week, and we're all starting to establish in game. Who are your mains, and what servers are you on?

I currently have Lhox, an Elyos Gladiator on Ariel. I'm looking to make some alts, but I'm waiting to see where everybody is rooted before I switch it up.

More tips, tricks, and hints!

  • Find yourself stuck with no clue where to go? Many listings have tips that will appear if you click them; even better, many npcs and places can be located on the map. "/pathfind" is the command, but there's also a button you can find labelled "locate". Not everything has a locate button, but most quest npcs do.

  • Not sure what to do next? Open your quest listing and check the campaign quests. You might've skipped one or it might not have popped up on your quest tracker yet. I've noticed these quests, along with being a pretty good storyline on their own, are a good guide to moving through the world.

  • We all know what vendor trash is, and Aion npcs even have that handy "sell all misc" button for it. But for those things that don't sell that way, look them up at aionarmory.com and you might find you have something useful. (Those fluxes, for example, sell pretty well.) White armor/weapon drops should probably be vendored, but you might get more for green items at the marketplace.

  • Gather as you go! It doesn't take long to hit areas where the gatherable items' skill level is way up, but if you hit a gather point anytime you see one, not only will you have stuff to vendor or market, you'll get that skill high and be able to gather really worthwhile stuff sooner (like quartz, crystal, silver, and amethyst, which are uncommon gather points).

  • If you plan to craft, it's worth it to work on the extract aether skill too, since a lot of weapon/armor recipes require the aether powder. Plus you can transmute aether powder into hard-to-find gatherables for when you need just one more.

  • Speaking of crafting, it's also worthwhile to explore those recipes on aionarmory.com. Some crafts are relatively cheap to master (alchemy) with equivalently low returns, while others (handicrafting) cost a lot to level up but can pay big dividends when you get to the green recipes. Remember that you have an account warehouse, so it might be worth it to outfit all your toons from one crafter on each side.

  • The last, best resort for news when the sites and servers are down is twitter. aion_liv, aion_ayase, aion_amboss, aion_xaen and a few others all post frequently and typically blurt newsbits before the sites Also, right now there's a bug on the official forums that prevents dev-as-dev posting, so what forum posts they make are at aionsource.com's forums.
